We provide exceptional Labor, Childbirth and Postpartum Doula services for our clients. Read below about how Shiloah Doula utilizes the best supportive tools to ensure families have the most empowering Holy Spirit led experiences that they can remember and share! Allow us to walk with you on your journey!
Childbirth education refers to the process of providing you with information and preparation for the labor and delivery of your baby. The goal of childbirth education is to empower and inform you so that you can make informed decisions about your birthing experience and feel more confident and in control in your labor and birth journey.
Positioning and relaxation techniques are valuable tools in childbirth for managing discomforts, promoting comfort, and potentially aiding the progression of labor. Here are some commonly used positioning and relaxation techniques that we will discuss and practice: standing, walking, swaying, rocking, birth ball, squatting, on hands and knees, side-lying, belly sifting, slow breathing, patterned breathing, affirmations, massage, prayer, scripture reading, therapeutic music listening, aromatherapy, bath and showers, and so much more! I can't wait to discuss and work with you!
We will do interactive exercises so that you can have an idea of how hard the body and mama works to bring forth a child. It takes time as you can see in this short video of a family working through "love squeezes" to deliver their "baby". It's meant to be informative and fun!
Click the video to find out what they thought of this exercise. It definitely is a family favorite!
While birth preparation is vital on this journey, obtaining the support you need is just as important! It can ensure that you endure labor, childbirth, and familyhood, no matter what your journey looks like!
Shiloah Doula seeks to be a vessel of honor for Jesus's good works. We want to give space for Him to impart the understanding of having Faith in everything. Being educated and prepared for childbirth and building a strong support system are invaluable. As children of God, we strive to walk in excellence shining His Light!
Having a baby should be a joyful and empowering experience. My main focus is to create a safe and comfortable environment for you and your team, to bring your baby into the world. I will provide early/active labor assistance and education for you and your support team. Once you deliver, I will stay with you up to two hours to ensure you and baby are safe!
Should you have a need for at home support after you deliver, Shiloah Doula offers postpartum care up to 12 weeks after you deliver your baby! Getting to know the new role of mommy-hood or extending your mommy-hood can of course be great, but it can have its challenges sometimes. Here, I will offer beginning breastfeeding support, newborn care, postpartum education, and provide assistance around your home where necessary. I also love to promote mommy and family getting the rest and nutrition they need so that while I'm away, they can feel encouraged and confident to care for their new love! It really does take a village, and I'm happy to become a part of your village!

Put simply, A Doula is a support person who helps their clients during a journey or process. Here, I am supporting you throughout your labor, delivery, and postpartum journeys. It definitely goes deeper than that for Shiloah Doula as I have had experience working as a Labor and Delivery and Postpartum Registered Nurse since 2011. I will help to prepare you for labor, sharing what I know and have learned over the years. I also offer spiritual, mental, emotional and physical support as you navigate through this beautiful process.
A Christian Doula is someone who is a follower of Christ and incorporates biblical principles in their service. At Shiloah Doula, we pray together, encourage scripture reading, seek God throughout our connection and carry what we've learned throughout our lives. This is not forced on anyone, but it is encouraged. You may have heard the saying, "A family that prays together stays together." At Shiloah Doula we say, "A team that prays together, builds together!" We give place for God's Holy Spirit to lead the way. “Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.” Exodus 23:20 KJV
It takes a village right! It is extremely helpful for parents to have someone they can trust. Someone who will provide care and support as mommy is healing. Unfortunately, for one, we live in a time where mothers are not given the proper time to heal because it's "back to work" shortly after you deliver. Two, the amount of support a mother has as she is healing has drastically decreased because either they do not have proper support or enough support. A Postpartum Doula has insight on what to expect as mommy is healing and transitioning in her new role and can assist in many areas. (see our Postpartum package for details)
Think of what it is that you want in a care professional. Think of how you want your birth experience to be. What is it that you need, and what is it that you want? Also, think of things that you don't want and will not tolerate (it's all about you!) You deserve the best care! Every Doula is unique in what they offer. Look around. Ask questions! Trust your gut! More importantly, because I am a woman of faith, I will say pray about it! Ask the Lord to guide you to the Doula that is right for you! When it is right, go for it! Move forward in the hiring process. You are indeed the hiring manager of your experience.
This is one of my favorite parts of our journey! Unfortunately, a lot of times the support partner is not included in the patient's care! How they are overlooked, I will not understand. Even as I practiced as an RN, I loved to include the family. Why? Because they are your loved ones and are most connected with you. They can actually help to move your labor along quicker, keep you calmer, and connect you deeper to each other. I am your support partner's Doula too! I help wherever I'm capable.
I will make sure you are informed of what is happening and/or can happen during labor/postpartum so that you can make informed decisions. I also encourage you to ask as many questions as you can think of. This is all about being educated so that you can have the best experience possible. However, I do not speak on the client's behalf. Why? Because you are in control of the service you receive. Respectfully, I cannot make medical decisions for you. I will however, advocate for you!
You absolutely can! We are not limited in how we can support our clients! Again, it is all about how you envision your birth experience to be. If you have already decided to have an epidural, we will inform you about how they are typically performed. If you have a scheduled c section or an urgent/emergent c section, we will prepare you to the best of our ability! We will inform you, educate you, and share with you as much as we know concerning pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. That way, you are prepared. Even in times where your vision shifts or circumstances change, we are right there with you to reassure you and encourage the best and safest outcomes for you and your baby!
The best plans are created as soon as possible. It is never too soon to start planning and saving. You can begin looking for a Doula before you're even pregnant! Again, it's all about being informed and prepared! Of course, once you confirm your pregnnacy, you can also begin looking for or even hiring a Doula. It gives you peace of mind when you make arragngements as early as possible.
Shiloah Doula is seeking to accept most major insurance providers in the future, but we are currently an out-of-pocket expense. We have worked with clients who were interested in using their HSA, FSA and HRA accounts to secure our services. Please contact us for more information.
